A CRIMINAL damage appeal has been launched after a car was vandalised during the Isle of Wight Festival weekend.
Phil Simmonds, of Hillside, Newport — just around the corner from the Seaclose Park site — said his car was scratched with a key on the Sunday night of the event.
He said: “First of all, I am not against the festival.
“The car was parked in the road, as usual, and someone has keyed both doors on the drivers side, the wing and the bonnet.
“This road is normally very quiet and safe, but while the festival is on it becomes the main walkway to and from Newport town centre.”
An Isle of Wight police spokesperson said: “We have received a report of criminal damage.
“The incident happened at sometime between 9am on June 16 and 7am on June 17 while the car was parked at Hillside.
“Damage was caused to doors and the bonnet.”
