BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — LUMA Festival is expanding. Founders of the 5th annual light projection festival in downtown Binghamton said Friday that a new, major sponsor will help add more exhibits.
LUMA organizers announced IBM will be the main sponsor moving forward. New to LUMA this year is an exhibit at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena, which will combine a live performance with light projection.
Founders say the 2019 festival is one you won’t want to miss.
“One of the things people don’t realize is the artists always try to outdo themselves. So, even if you think you’ve seen an artist before, you haven’t seen the project they’re doing this year. Everything they do is one hundred percent new. So, even if you’ve seen the name, you haven’t seen the piece,” co-founder Josh Bernard explained on Friday.
LUMA is currently in its fifth year. More than 40,000 people are expected to make their way to downtown Binghamton for the free festival, which is scheduled for September 6 and September 7.
