Hayes Canal Festival has been cancelled due to a “police incident” as unconfirmed social media reports suggest a body was found in the water.
The festival, organised by The Canal and River Trust, was due to take place between 12pm and 5pm today (Sunday, September 15) but has been cancelled at the last minute to make way for the emergency services.
One resident, posting on Facebook , alleged that a body had been found in the water at 8am.
The Canal and River Trust tweeted : “Unfortunately due to a police incident the Hayes Canal Festival has been cancelled.
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused but thank everyone for their understanding.”
We have contacted the Metropolitan Police for more information and to seek confirmation about the nature of the “police incident”.
