Peoria County, Ill. (HOI) – As Summer Camp Music Festival packs up the stages until next Memorial Day weekend, the Peoria County Sheriff says it a smooth year with less arrests.
The festival in Chillicothe finished their 19th year this weekend and Sheriff Brian Asbell says camper safety in severe weather is their number one priority every year.
Sheriff Asbell says historically, dozens of arrests happen at the festival, but this year was the lowest number they’ve seen in years.
“From Thursday to Monday, it was less than two dozen arrests. Most of those were not even on the grounds. On the grounds it was maybe less than ten arrests,” said Sheriff Asbell.
Sheriff Asbell says there are probably a few reasons for the lower numbers, including weather and lower festival attendance, but he’s glad it was a safe weekend.
