It was only a matter of time before New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez began turning on the old Democrat leadership in a bid to replace them with radicals like herself.

According to Fox News, AOC was on “The Intercept” last Thursday and openly called for new leadership of the Democratic party, but warned that the transition could invite more conservative leadership if they aren’t careful:

The progressive firebrand said it’s time for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to go — but warned of a power vacuum that could be filled by “nefarious forces” who are “even more conservative” than the caucuses’ current leaders during a podcast interview on “The Intercept” that aired Thursday.

“I do think we need new leadership in the Democratic Party,” Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said. “I think one of the things that I have struggled with, I think that a lot of people struggle with, is the internal dynamics of the House has made it such that there [are] very little options for succession.”

Pelosi’s position as House Speaker is already precarious as Republicans closed the gap in the house in terms of seats. This means that Pelosi can only have a very thin number of opposition votes before she’s voted out as Speaker.

However, the 80-year-old Pelosi has mentioned that this next term could be her last anyway and AOC says that no one is fit to take her place as of yet because none of them have “a lack of real grooming on next generation of leadership.” Apparently, she doesn’t consider Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip James Clyburn are qualified enough to hold that position despite being in their positions for over a decade.

“My concern — and I acknowledge this as a failing, as something that we need to sort out — is that there isn’t a plan,” said AOC. “How do we fill that vacuum? Because if you create that vacuum, there are so many nefarious forces at play to fill that vacuum with something even worse. And so, the actual sad state of affairs is that there are folks more conservative than even they are willing to kind of fill that void.”

“The answer is we need to shift power,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “We need to make sure that we have a transition of power in the Democratic Party.”

While AOC sounds like she’s attempting to put herself up as the party leader she denies wanting to take Pelosi’s place herself, saying she’s “not ready” for the role.

“It can’t be me. I know that I couldn’t do that job,” she said.

The most notable part in her addressing of Pelosi and Schumer’s departure is her call for a “shift of power” after talking about a lack of real grooming on next-generation leadership. Pelosi and her “squad” are famously social justice driven and openly socialist. This radicalism has infected the Democrat party to its bones.

Even if Pelosi and Schumer wanted to hang on to their jobs, their days were numbered the moment AOC became the Democrat party’s sweetheart and unofficial guiding star. No matter how it gets looked at, Pelosi and Schumer are too old guard to be considered viable leaders of the new Democrat party.

They may hang on for one more term, but rest assured that once they’re out of the way, AOC and her ilk will begin a campaign to further drive the Democrat party to the left.
