Rev. Raphael Warnock, who is running to unseat Sen. Kelly Loeffler in Georgia’s runoff election, has repeatedly come under fire for his pro-abortion stance. While the left appreciates that he attempts to use the Bible to justify aborting children, others are not so keen on the idea.

More than two dozen black pastors penned an open letter to Warnock, criticizing him for his vocal support of abortion. Warnock, the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, has frequently tweeted his support for pro-abortion policies and has embraced Marxism as being beneficial to the black community.

The letter, which was published on Friday, begins by commending Warnock for his “commendable efforts to share Christ while pursuing political solutions to our most pressing problems.”

The document continues: “You have publicly expressed your views that abortion is an exercise of ‘human agency and freedom’ that is fully consistent with your role as a shepherd of God’s people. We believe these statements represent grave errors of judgment and a lapse in pastoral responsibility, and we entreat you to reconsider them.”

Warnock, who recently touted himself as a “pro-choice pastor,” has vowed to oppose new restrictions on abortion and vocally opposed “heartbeat” anti-abortion measures that the state legislature passed last year.

Most of the pastors who signed the letter reside in Georgia, but some were based in Alabama and Florida. A spokeswoman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the letter was emailed to the church on Friday and “hand-delivered to Warnock’s campaign office at noon.” A Democrat spokesman stated that the candidate is “steadfast” in his support for abortion.

“Reverend Warnock believes a patient’s room is too small a place for a woman, her doctor, and the U.S. government and that these are deeply personal health care decisions — not political ones,” said Warnock campaign spokesman Michael Brewer. “He also believes those who are concerned about life ought to be focused on the incredibly high rates of infant mortality and maternal mortality, and working to make sure we are expanding access to health care, not taking it away.”

Warnock is not the only black pastor who supports abortion despite the practice’s deleterious impact on the black community. But there are still plenty who understand the importance of protecting life in the womb.
