Bloomberg Tries to Explain Away the 'Racist' Stop and Frisk Tapes, Claims Trump Is the Real Racist

Mike Bloomberg came under a lot of fire on Tuesday for an audio tape from 2015 of him talking about the stop and frisk program.

On the audiotape which was from a speaking engagement at the Aspen Institute, Bloomberg defended the stop and frisk program.

Bloomberg said that all the crime was in minority communities and “The way you get guns out of the kids’ hands is to throw them up against the wall.”

Then another video came out from 2013 and that came across even worse.

So what does Bloomberg have to say? He claims he inherited the practice of “stop and frisk.”

From Washington Examiner:

“I inherited the police practice of stop-and-frisk, and as part of our effort to stop gun violence, it was overused. By the time I left office, I cut it back by 95%, but I should’ve done it faster and sooner. I regret that and I have apologized — and I have taken responsibility for taking too long to understand the impact it had on Black and Latino communities.”

That of course is nonsense as the videos show, he was a strong and continuing proponent of the policy. He only disavowed it in the last 15 seconds because he knows he wouldn’t get the nomination if he didn’t.

And guess who’s really at fault anyway, according to Bloomberg? Why, President Donald Trump, of course.

Trump criticized Bloomberg’s words as “racist” in a tweet which he subsequently deleted.

But Bloomberg attacked Trump, accusing him of “divid[ing the country] with racist appeals and hateful rhetoric” when the U.S. was “marching toward greater equality.”

And some media and liberals tried to deflect from Bloomberg’s problems by attacking Trump, pointing to him being supportive of stop and frisk.

But the problem wasn’t the concept of the program, the problem may have been in the application that Trump had nothing to do with. And the problem was Bloomberg’s words about minorities, not the concept of the program itself. Trump wasn’t making stop and frisk about race, Bloomberg was.

But again, way to spin a Bloomberg problem against Trump, biased media.

This is only going to add to the perception of Bloomberg by the left as an elitist billionaire.
