One of Los Angeles’ newest City Council members wowed the city with his stunning ignorance of something practically everybody in the United States can recite in their sleep – the Pledge of Allegiance. Kevin de Leon was asked by Council President Nury Martinez at Tuesday’s meeting to lead the group in the Pledge. Should be an easy ask, right? Apparently Mr. de Leon needed to have a script in front of him, because he stumbled all over his words and still got it wrong.

Whoever said “oof” at the end of the clip nailed it. Here’s de Leon’s
Thank you very much, Madam President. It’ll be an honor. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America….
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
I, for one, don’t want to hear another “covfefe” from a liberal again. That will always be met with “undervincible.”
De Leon, a notorious gun grabber, ran for the United States Senate against Dianne Feinstein after terming out of the legislature. After losing that race, he ran for Los Angeles City Council in a special election to fill now-indicted Jose Huizar’s seat. He’s no stranger to making a fool of himself, as the video below demonstrates. While talking about one of his terrible pieces of gun legislation, de Leon said:
This is a ghost gun. This right here has the ability, with a 30-caliber clip, to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second. Thirty magazine clip within half a second.
Yes. He really said that. All of it.
California, where Democrats keep failing forward.
