LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – After months of fine-tuning students are ready for their big performance.
Central High School hosted the District Solo and Ensemble Music Festival on Saturday.
Nearly 500 young musicians from area high schools participated.
Students in band, choir, and orchestra are taking the stage.
They play in front of a judge who gives them feedback and rates their performance.
One director says this experience pushes students to go further.
“It’s quote on quote easier to sit in a practice room and use yourself as feedback, but having someone else listen and say, ‘well actually,’ that’s really what’s important, and that’s what can take you to the next level,” said Jacob Klingbeil, Director of Bands at Central High School.
Students who receive a “starred 1” rating qualify for the State Solo and Ensemble Festival on April 25th at Viterbo University.
