The Jerseyville business community is gearing up for the annual Downtown Country Christmas Festival, which has been rebranded this year to “Bright Nights” due to the pandemic. The festival group has placed of 30,000 lights at Dolan Park, 10,000 at Rotary Park, and another 10,000 on the courthouse square.
Festival President Michael Ward tells The Big Z many of the merchants downtown have also decorated their storefronts for the promotion.

There will be what is described as a quaint holiday village in the Department of Children and Family Services Building, and other displays around town. The event runs November 28-December 25, with Santa making an appearance in an inflatable snow globe on Saturday from 4-8pm on the courthouse lawn.
