CLEVELAND, Ohio — The sun is rising on festival season. Here it comes from the East, with the 10th annual Cleveland Asian Festival.
The two-day bash — Saturday May 18 and Sunday May 19 — marks the arrival of Cleveland’s festival season.

“The Asian Festival is a big party that brings thousands of people downtown,” says co-founder Johnny Wu. “But it’s also played a big role in making people realize that there’s something really special going on in AsiaTown.”

The festival, which takes place on Payne Avenue between East 27th and East 30th streets, has brought 40,000-50,000 people to AsiaTown every year.

It has also helped re-brand the neighborhood as pan-Asian entertainment district stocked with six markets and more than two dozen eateries and bars. Places such Miega Korean BBQ Restaurant — in Asian Town Center, 1541 East 38th Street; 216-432-9200 — which combines cool décor, chic vibe, generous portions and a menu that is diverse as it is unique.

AsiaTown includes a wide range of eateries, including Koko Bakery — 3710 Payne Avenue; 216-881-7600 — colorful bakery offers a tasty array of Asian buns, pastries and bubble teas.
