‘Damn Fool’ Jennifer Aniston ‘Roasting on an Open Fire’ Over Pandemic Christmas Ornament

I tend to be mostly “meh” about Hollywood Looney Tunes, their causes, the crap that spews from their mouths, their drunken tweetstorms, and everything else they do, say, type, or think.

While my sentiments run stronger against bitter lunatics like Robert DeNiro and Alec Baldwin, of course, I pretty much don’t give a damn one way or the other about pretend people who make zillions of dollars pretending to be mostly other pretend people.

Other than a brief moment of non-clarity in my life during which I “might” have thought that Jennifer Aniston “might” have been the hottest thing on the planet, I feel the same way about the erstwhile “Friends” star — although she still has killer hair.

Our Christmas story begins on Christmas morning when Aniston threw herself like a bag of chestnuts onto a roaring fire — metaphorically speaking, of course — by posting a picture on Instagram of a circular Christmas tree ornament. A circular “pandemic” Christmas tree ornament. A circular “our first pandemic 2020” Christmas tree ornament, along with the sarcastic message:

“’Cheers to our first pandemic of 2020, where millions of people died! Let’s celebrate that on a Christmas ornament!”

Oops? Or not?

Needless to say, both the ornament and Aniston posting it resulted in mixed reactions — everything controversial in 2020 results in mixed reactions.

While the “Friends” star’s accompanying sarcastic message made her intent clear, the “our first pandemic” inscription reminding Twitter users of baby showers, “baby’s first Christmas,” and similar “firsts” — hardly comparable to a viral pandemic that has allegedly killed more than 330,000 Americans; that number is disputed as being purposely inflated by the inclusion of non-COVID-related deaths in the total.

Some saw Aniston as out of touch — the same “out of touch” reality of many Hollywooders who live non-real lives playing non-real people for real money.

Personally? As I suggested at the top, I don’t really give a damn one way or the other. On the other hand, I tend to agree with “Pacho,” here:

Personally, yeah. Why post a picture of the ornament? What’s the upside? “Cred”? Everyone knows you hate COVID — everybody hates COVID. Mostly everyone in your Tinsel Town world hates Donald Trump, just like you do. We get it. Bigly. We get it. “Yuuuge.”

Then again, same Jennifer Aniston who in June called a pandemic that has permanently, in some ways, altered the very structure of America in devastating ways, “a blessing,” “extremely unifying,” and “oddly beautiful.”

“I think that’s a blessing of this pandemic because there wasn’t any chance for people to get distracted going back to work or going out to dinners or whatever. We were all pulled together, and it feels extremely unifying and oddly beautiful. And I’ve never read more in my life.”

Hollywood. Go figure.
