São Paulo – The emirate of Dubai started on December 17 the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), its traditional shopping festival where outlets offer huge discounts and a series of entertainment events take place across the emirate. The festival runs until January 30, 2021.
This year’s edition includes a drone show each night. The Drone Light Show features 300 drones for 45 days in a row throughout the festival, making it the longest consecutively held show of its kind in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
The show takes place above the beach opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Bluewaters Island and the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort. The drones first take flight for a show at 7pm and at 9.30pm local time for a different show. Each performance will last four minutes and is free to watch.
The first show, titled ‘Dubai, A City of Adventure’, shows how there’s so much to see and do in the emirate by using famous characters. Show two, titled ‘Dubai, From the Past to the Present,’ shows the city’s journey from old Dubai to new Dubai, where it is headed into the future. The show is held in partnership with TikTok and broadcast to some countries.
In addition to discounts in outlets, DSF features other entertainment events and shows. This year’s festival features preventive measures in malls and outlets due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) CEO Ahmed Al Khaja said this was a highly anticipated edition that will bring 2020 to a close and welcome in the start of 2021 in a positive and fun-packed fashion. DFRE is the public agency that organizes the festival.
