A VIRTUAL festival, aiming to ‘inspire positive climate change’, hosted by various organisations in Reading, starts this week.
Reading Climate Festival, taking place from today (Monday, November 9) and running until Sunday, November 15, is run by Reading Culture Live and has seen support from Extinction Rebellion Reading (XR Reading), which is providing three accompanying events.
The week-long event will host various speakers discussing global warming and how the public can reduce their contribution, as well as a film directed by award-winning director Damon Gameau.
The event also coincides, and has also makes a feature of, announcing the new Climate Emergency Strategy decided by the Reading Borough Council.
Kate Cameron-Daum, spokesperson for XR Reading, said: “Scientists tell us that climate change is accelerating and ‘we are all in this together’.
“We can only achieve net-zero emissions by government, citizens, businesses and other organisations all working together.
“The Reading Climate Festival is a fantastic opportunity for us all to learn more and find out what we can do to help save the planet for our children.”
