Festival highlights various ways to enjoy rum
The Tanduay Rum Festival in Bacolod City showcased the different ways one could experience the popular rum. Enjoyed on its own or as a cocktail mix, rum can likewise add a different flavor profile to appetizers, main dishes and desserts.
“One of the main activities of the festival was the Culinaria Competition. It challenged the chefs in Bacolod to come up with dishes and desserts using rum as one of the ingredients. In doing so, these talented chefs have shown that rum can be used as an ingredient to add a different flavor to food,” said Tanduay Chief Marketing Officer Paul Lim.






For the winning entries of Anne Bistro in the sale competition, for example, its team used both the Tanduay Boracay Rum and Tanduay Dark Rum. The team placed first in both “Appetizer and Main Dish Featuring Rum” and “Dessert Featuring Rum” categories of the Culinaria Competition.
Rounding up the list of winners in the “Appetizer and Main Dish Featuring Rum” category are first runner-up Kusinata and second runner-up LCC Bacolod.
For the “Dessert Featuring Rum” category, Kusinata also placed second, while LCC Bacolod placed third.
Apart from the Culinaria Competition, the Tanduay Rum Festival likewise celebrated the different ways where Filipinos can come together and have fun — through art, sports, dance, and music.
The week-long festival, which is the first of its kind in the Philippines, likewise held a Mixology competition, a Barrel Art Painting contest that was participated in by artists in Bacolod.
