(Spencer)-The Festival of Trees is about to get underway in Spencer, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has the story:
The Annual Festival of Trees will start next week in Spencer.
Clay County Heritage Executive Director Stephanie Horsley says, the trees will be in place on Tuesday. “The first thing that happens is, we have our Gallery of the Trees opening at the Heritage Center starting Tuesday, November 17, and that will remain open until December 17. We will have 11 three foot trees that are decorated by local artists in the Gallery. These will actually be up for a virtual silent auction, and that information for the silent auction will be provided from our buildilng, or on our website and facebook page, so we encourage people to check that out.”
She notes that a number of festivities will be happening in the near future. “The Festival of Trees is a joint effort with us and Arts on Grand, and we have lots of other activities. Our Christmas Gala will be Friday, December 4, starting at 5 pm at the Heritage Center. That is when the virtual silent auction ends and we’ll have boxed up food to go, and you can come and see the trees then. That is a ticketed event, $20 per ticket.”
Other events include an Afternoon Tea, Morning with Santa and the Tour of Homes.
