First Festival of Trees in Forsyth County

CUMMING, Ga. — If you’re looking for an already decorated tree by an area artist, you have a few more days to grab one at the first-ever “Festival of Trees”. Final bids are due Sunday, December 8.

The silent auction features tabletop trees from two to four feet tall suitable for home decoration or gift-giving. Funds raised from the auction will go to support the Cumming Arts Center’s Children’s Art Program and the Cumming Home Ministries.

This year’s festival features 29 trees with themes ranging from candy-land to animal wildlife rescue. One of the artists, John Kirkpatrick says every tree is unique to the artist who designed it, “we didn’t give anyone guidelines…they just came in and created and you can find just about any type of tree in here.”

So far the highest bid of $230 has been placed on an impressionist art-themed tree created by Kirkpatrick. “We just want to raise as much as we can, because everything goes back to re-creating and re-sharing art within our community.”

The Cumming Art Center is open Tuesday-Saturday 11 am-5 pm and Sunday 2-5 pm. The center is closed on Mondays and Thanksgiving Day.
