Gal Gadot Shuts down SJWs in a Snit Over ‘Cleopatra’ Role, Calling It ‘Whitewashing’

Score one for facts, history…and one badass action hero. In this case, actress Gal Gadot.

My colleague Alex Parker recently shared a story about SJWs — the social justice mob — trying to shame comedian and talk show host James Corden (who happens to be straight) for playing a gay character in a new movie. And back in September, Brandon Morse reminded readers that “cultural appropriation,” as the Left terms it, isn’t even a real thing. Also, you know things have gotten ridiculous when even something as basic as eye makeup is considered racist by progressives.

Now, actress Gal Gadot is fighting back against the same phenomenon over an upcoming role in which she plays the ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra.

According to the Daily Mail, activists made it known they were in a snit in October, when news broke about the “Wonder Woman 1984” star’ getting cast. Because they demand the role be played by a woman from Africa or of Arab descent, apparently. And they floated another creative (but imaginary) leftist term: ‘whitewashing.’

RedState’s own Streiff fully covered the bigoted, fake controversy in the fall, writing:

The criticism comes on two fronts. Both tiresome. Both racist.

The first comes from the BDS (that would be Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions and not Bondage, Discipline, and Submission, but it is an easy mistake to make) crowd. They are torqued that an Israeli and a Jew would be given a role that they believe should rightfully go to an Arab actress. Why Arab? Because modern Egypt is Arab, therefore ancient Egypt was also Arab.

A second, more noxious, group are those who are claiming that it is offensive that an actress of Eastern European descent, according to Wikipedia Gadot was originally Greenstein, is playing a person of color.

As far as I can tell, the whole Cleopatra-was-black myth comes out of “out of Africa” nonsense in the 80s and 90s when we were fed an endless line of anti-historical crap that claimed virtually every human achievement, from mathematics to the Aztec pyramids, hailed from Africa. Unlike a lot of the Egyptian pharaohs, we know a great deal about Cleopatra’s lineage. She was Greek.

That’s right: Cleopatra was Macedonian Greek.

Now, Gadot is (politely) telling the haters to shove it, in a new interview with BBC Arabic.

“First of all if you want to be true to the facts then Cleopatra was Macedonian,” the Wonder Woman actress told BBC Arabic’s Sam Asi.

“We were looking for a Macedonian actress that could fit Cleopatra. She wasn’t there, and I was very passionate about Cleopatra.”

Gadot said: “I have friends from across the globe, whether they’re Muslims or Christian or Catholic or atheist or Buddhist, or Jewish of course… People are people, and with me I want to celebrate the legacy of Cleopatra and honour this amazing historic icon that I admire so much.”

And she has some common sense advice for anyone who doesn’t agree with her playing Cleopatra:

She said other people were welcome to make their own films. “You know, anybody can make this movie and anybody can go ahead and do it. I’m very passionate that I’m going to do my own too.”

You might remember when actress Scarlett Johansson was forced to bend a knee over her portrayal of an Asian character based on an animated movie (from a comic book series). Or back in the summer, when a White voice actor who played a major role in “Family Guy” quit the show in a martyr-like self canceling move, because he’s not Black.

You know what the leftist mob would really hate? For you to watch Gadot’s new movie (whether in a theater or streaming on HBO Max) on Christmas Day 2020, and make it a smash hit. Here’s the trailer, in case you somehow managed to miss it:
