DULUTH, MN – Some good news for a local film producer hoping to turn his screenplay about the 1920 Duluth lynchings into a reality.

The screenplay titled ‘Hate Storm’ is based on Michael Fedo’s ‘The Lynchings in Duluth’ book.

It depicts what led up to the deaths of Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Issac Mcghie.

Dale Botten created a short film as a teaser in an effort to get someone to purchase the screenplay in 2016.

That short film just won a big social awareness award at the 2019 Tylerman Film Festival in Illinois.

It is being screened there later this week.

The short film was also an official selection at the 2018 Great Lakes International Film Festival.

Botten plans to release the full trailer to the public in the spring of 2020.
