If you’re looking for a scrooge at the top of a corporation, then you might want to cruise past Hobby Lobby, because one isn’t there.

As Thanksgiving approaches, many businesses prepare for the onslaught of retail customers for what we call “Black Friday,” but Hobby Lobby CEO Steve Green won’t use the possibility of getting more money to keep his employees away from their families where they belong on the holidays.

Not only will he not extend the store hours, but he’s also going to continue to remain closed on Sunday and Thanksgiving.

“We value family, and one of the things that we tell our co-managers as we kind of get them up to speed is that their family is more important than this business,” Green said during an interview with Neil Cavuto of Fox Business, “and they need to be sure to take care of their family first and then Hobby Lobby second.”

“Our success is the fact that we do have our priorities right as best as we can,” he added.

Green follows the principles laid forth in Christian scriptures which helps him put his business in a different perspective than your typical CEO, with his business serving more as a means to serve than an end for money.

“In your business, when you follow principles that Scripture has given to us, it — I think — serves a business well,” said Green.

“What we have always strived to do is operate our business according to the principles that God has given us in His word — operating with honesty and integrity and hard work and servant leadership,” Green continued. “These are all concepts that Scripture gives us.”

“I would argue that any great leadership principle is a biblical principle.”

While businesses like Chick-fil-A may finally be giving ground under the pressure of the world, Hobby Lobby is still holding strong. This stays true despite the fact that Hobby Lobby has run afoul of the mob and leftist activist groups on multiple occasions, even one that resulted in a Supreme Court case, which Hobby Lobby won, setting a precedent for all Christian owned businesses.
