Hornbill Festival has connected Northeast to every Indian household: Jitendra Singh
Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh attended the cultural event organised by North East Zone Cultural Center, on the 7th Day of the Hornbill Festival at Kisama in Nagaland today. Addressing the programme, Mr Singh said, Hornbill Festival has connected Northeast to every Indian household.
He said, Nagaland has become the ambassador of Northeast for the rest of India through the medium of Hornbill Festival. The Minister expressed delight to see huge number of youngster from different parts of India and abroad, coming to watch and explore Hornbill festival.
Mr Singh asserted that in the last five years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the highest priority to Northeast. He said that Mr Modi visited Northeast more than 30 times in five years, which is more than all prime Ministers put together in the past. He said, Prime Minister Modi has described Northeast as the ‘New Engine’ of New India.
Mr Singh also informed that his Ministry is organizing Northeast festivals in different parts of the country and people are coming forward and discovering the taste of Naga food and the rhythm of Naga dance.
The Union Minister stated that Hornbill festival has become the torch bearer of a new cultural journey of North East which is going to unite the entire India with a message from a peripheral state like Nagaland.
