Angry Californians show no signs of backing down as they continue to push back against Gov. Gavin Newsom’s excessive coronavirus restrictions. Many have taken to the streets and social media to express their outrage over the draconian measures and the unwillingingness on the part of hypocritical Democratic politicians to abide by their own rules.

Townhall’s Julio Rosas reported:

“Kitson Los Angeles, a boutique shop, made headlines last week for posting pictures of COVID hypocrisy from Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D) on its windows for all shoppers to see. On Saturday, Fraser Ross, the store’s owner, wanted to take the frustration up a notch. He invited volunteers of the Recall Gavin Newsom campaign to park their truck in front of the store to collect signatures.”

“I heard they need to get more and more signatures and I thought well, people are coming to take pictures of the window, so obviously we’re getting traffic that wants to sign the petition,” Ross told Townhall. The business owner indicated that he has received an outpouring of support after posting about Newsom’s hypocrisy.

Business owners held a protest outside the home of Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, demanding that she vote to repeal the outdoor dining ban that she was pushing the prvious week. Among other reasons, demonstrators were upset with her because only hours after she voted in support of the ban, she went to her favorite restaurant and ate outdoors before the rule took effect.

Angela Marsden, owner of Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill, organized the protest. She recently made headlines after she filmed a video showing that her outdoor dining area was banned, but the cast and crew of an entertainment company were allowed because politicians deemed them as “essential workers.”

Several restaurant owners in the Golden State are refusing to comply with COVID-19 restrictions enacted by Los Angeles County. Andrew Gruel, owner of Slapfish, told Townhall that he had no intention of abiding by the new restrictions.

“Well I don’t necessarily know if I made the mistake of putting us in the crosshairs of whatever agency [that] is going to prevent us from keeping our dining open, but as I’ve said on multiple occasions, we have no intention of opening up indoor dining. We agree that indoor dining is an issue,” Gruel said, but “If you look outside, we’ve got a plethora of outdoor space.”

The restaurateur pointed out that only offering takeout could be even more of an issue because they have no control over who customers eat with after picking up their food. “We can offer them to eat in a thoroughly spaced, outdoor area…that’s our argument proving that this is actually safer and until such time we see any data that prove otherwise, we’re just going to continue serving outside,” he said.

The recent protests are only the latest in a long line of public demonstrations against the onerous restrictions put in place by California’s Democrat politicians. In November, thousands of Californians took to the streets after 10 pm to protest Gov. Newsom’s newly-enacted COVID curfew. Syndie Ly, who helped to organize the event told Breitbart News, “Governor Newsom’s sweeping edicts by moving 95 percent of California to purple tier and a curfew is an abuse of power.” She continued, explained that “We are all responsible adults so we can make our individual choices.”

As California’s Democrats persist in implementing coronavirus restrictions that they refuse to follow themselves, the state’s residents are growing more and more weary of the brazen hypocrisy. Business owners are sick of not being able to do business because of measures that are not only excessive but not proven to be effective.

The fact that the Republican Party won four House seats in the state doesn’t seem to faze the Democratic Party. But as leaders like Newsom continue to push for this level of government intrusion, the situation could quickly become worse. The question is: What will happen when Californians reach their breaking point?
