It Was Fun and Games for AOC as She Slammed GOP for Delays In COVID-19 Aid, Then Ted Cruz Showed Up

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thought she could get away with blaming Republicans for delays in getting another Coronavirus relief bill passed but Texas Sen. Ted Cruz wrecked her party with a dose of reality.

Attempting to put heat on Republicans for not coming to a solution before Thanksgiving break, AOC tried to paint the GOP controlled Senate as a heartless bunch.

“People across the country are going hungry, COVID is set to explode, and Mitch McConnell dismissed the Senate last week. I don’t know how these people can sleep at night. I really don’t,” she tweeted to her millions of followers.

Cruz did what he’s one of the best at and stepped into the digital ring to debate the hard left’s champion, and things immediately started going downhill for her. With one tweet, Cruz called out AOC’s party and made it clear that this was something cheered on by their party leader thinking that harming people will help them win more seats in Georgia.

“Why is your party filibustering $500 billion in COVID relief? And Joe Biden is cheering them on. Thinking that blocking relief somehow helps Dems win Georgia,” tweeted Cruz.

AOC attempted to come back with what she thought was an intelligent blow to Cruz’s knowledge about how our government works, but really only proved that she wasn’t reading what Cruz actually said.

“The House doesn’t have filibusters, [Cruz]. We also passed several COVID relief packages to the Senate that not only include >$500 billion, but also prioritize helping real people as opposed to Wall St bailouts the GOP tries to pass off as “relief.” Nice try though,” she tweeted back.

In a secondary tweet, she added that she hopes someone else is running Cruz’s Twitter because it would be embarrassing if a US senator didn’t know this about the House.

Only Cruz didn’t say the House was filibustering anything, he said her party was. Cruz dropped the hammer on AOC for it.

“[AOC] seems not to know there are Democrats in the Senate,” Cruz joked before coming back with another blow at her party leader’s insistence that aid be withheld from the people.

“Or that Joe Biden (also a Dem) is publicly calling on Senate Dems to continue filibustering COVID relief because he thinks it will help them win Georgia,” he added.

AOC seemed to lose her taste for debate after that and hasn’t responded, which is wise. Her continued attempts to corner Cruz and the GOP were only making her look foolish and her party look uncaring.

AOC’s power comes from the fact that her fans are ignorant of what’s going on in Washington. With a lack of information, she can paint whatever picture she pleases but with Cruz continuing to inject knowledge and news, as well as a few jokes, her narratives come crashing down around her.

Word to the not-so-wise, don’t step into the ring with Cruz unless you’re well prepared.
