FLINT, MI- A weekend full of jazz music is returning to Flint July 26-28 for the 38th annual Flint Jazz Festival at Riverbank Park.
The festival will feature a mix of local and regional artists who will take the stage at 5:30 p.m. Friday, 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Headliners will take the stage at 7 p.m. each night.
“Our headliners are not to be missed,” said Greg Fiedler, president and CEO of the Greater Flint Arts Council. “Banda Magda gets things started on Friday with an incredible group of international musicians. On Saturday, we’re featuring Najee, an American saxophonist with two platinum and four gold albums under his belt. Then, we finish big on Sunday evening with smooth jazz gospel musician and native Detroiter, Tim Bowman.”
Seating is not provided, so guests are encouraged to bring their cushions, blankets and folding chairs. No outside food or beverages are allowed, but there will be food vendors on site.
“Plus, if you want to get a head start on the weekend, join us for our Jazz Walk on Thursday night,” Fiedler said. “We’ll be hitting five downtown clubs that night.”
Admission is $10 per day or $25 for a weekend pass. The weekend pass will only be available Friday and there will be no sales in advance. Tickets can be bought at the gate with cash only.
