Doha: The Katara International Arabian Horse Festival successfully concluded yesterday. 12 countries participated in the glamorous horse show.
The festival was organized under the patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani by the Katara Cultural Village in cooperation with Qatar Equestrian Federation, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, and Qatar Foundation.
General Manager of Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, received the Minister of Culture and Sports, H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, and many ambassadors who visited the event yesterday. Al Sulaiti said, “After the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival, which included the Title Show prizes, we can only say that we have succeeded. Thanks to God for presenting the Festival in the best way.”
Al Sulaiti, who is also the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Festival, added that the participation of 12 countries in light of the global health conditions is an excellent achievement for this tournament. He also explained that the tournament was held for the first time in Katara and is subject to the highest standards of integrity and fairness. It also adheres to the various procedures and standards set by the European Commission for the Beauty Contests of Purebred Arabian Horses (ICAHO).
“Katara is fully committed to the various precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
He hailed the artists who participated in the side events, adding that, “The exhibitions varied and everyone shared their interest in horses, which expresses Arab authenticity. The status of horses in the soul of the Arab man is not hidden,” he noted.
“Katara has been keen to highlight the cultural aspect and the deep-rooted historical legacy through these activities, which were closely watched by the Cultural Village audience,” Al Sulaiti said.
He thanked all the institutions and companies sponsoring the Festival — Nasser bin Khaled Group (the diamond sponsor of the Festival), Ali bin Ali Group (the diamond sponsor), Ahli Bank (the exclusive sponsor), and others.
