Nostalgia Festival, held at Ferrymead Heritage Park, is in its seventh year.
The range of acts for the festival was “unprecedented”, with a new street stage and more inclusion of the streets, buildings and attractions that are the hallmark of Ferrymead Heritage Park also to be highlighted, he said.
“The evolved site plan means we can bring more acts than ever before, as well as bringing more of the park’s attractions, displays and quirkiness to life”.
The all-ages festival features the best of Canterbury food and drink, as well as a range of live music and entertainment. Two pop up restaurants and a new performance space had also been moved into the heritage buildings for the first time.

Nostalgia aims to unite the community through music, with a selection of feel-good New Zealand and international artists.
The retro-style festival has been growing each year since it began in 2014 when 800 people attended. About 5000 people were at this year’s festival. This year would the the first under new ownership after Gibson sold the event to Christchurch-based beer, wine and food festival organisers Team Event Ltd.
At the time, he said the move would enable the festival to grow and be maintained at a high level while maintaining its atmosphere.
Team Event runs both the Wine and Food Festival South Island and the Electric Avenue Music Festival in Christchurch’s Hagley Park annually, plus the Great Kiwi Beer Festival, which is held in both Christchurch and Hamilton.
As with previous years, the festival would place an emphasis on sustainability with punters encouraged to cycle to the event, often as part of an organised biker gang.
