Director Lee Isaac Chung’s drama “Minari” (2020) continues to win awards at film festivals around the globe, most recently the Audience Award and Best Actor Award at the Denver Film Festival which ended this month, the film’s distributor Pancinema announced on Tuesday.
“Minari,” is based on director Chung’s own life and tells the story of a Korean family who move to rural Arkansas in the 1980s.
After its world premier at the Sundance Film Festival in January, “Minari” won the festival’s U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and U.S. Dramatic Audience Award.
In October, it won the Middleburg Film Festival’s Audience Award and Actor’s Union Award, and Heartland International Film Festival’s Overall Audience Choice Award and Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award.
The film has been nominated for the Special Award at the DeVille Film Festival, the Best Actress Award at the Gotham Awards, and the Best Picture Award at the Valladolid International Film Festival.
The film is scheduled to premiere in Korea next year.
