Neighbors host festival to air grievances about F-35 jets

MADISON (WKOW) — People who oppose bringing F-35 jets to Truax Field in Madison organized an event Sunday to share their feelings about the proposed plans.

The Good Noise Neighbor Festival met at Thurber Park in Madison.

State. Rep. Chris Taylor spoke to the crowd.

“These jets do not belong in dense residential areas,” she said.

The neighbors who organized the gathering say they just want to be heard.

“Since it’s a proposal, we want to see if we can collectively raise our voices and talk to the powers that be and see if we can stop that from happening because currently we already have F-16s that fly over our neighborhood, and they’re already loud. Like, piercingly loud,” said Jennie Capellaro, who helped organize the festival.

Earlier this month, the state Assembly and Senate passed resolutions supporting the fighter jets coming to Madison.

The Air Force extended its public comment period until November 1.
