The event, to be held in April, showcases the state’s breweries and benefits the Rhode Island Brewers Guild.
The Newport Craft Beer Festival, founded and co-sponsored by the Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling Co. and Pour Judgement Bar & Grille, will return for its ninth year on April 24-25.
The festival will kick off Friday with VIB (Very Important Beers!) event from 8 to 10 p.m. at Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling Co., featuring beers not available Saturday and in a more intimate setting.
On Saturday, there will be two sessions for the festival, from noon to 3 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m., under a tent at the Great Friend Meeting House in Newport. Participating breweries are required to send staff employed by the brewery, so guests can pick their brains and learn all about each beer first hand from people who help make, market, design, and taste-test each brew.
The festival highlights Rhode Island brewers but features additional, hand-picked, out-of-state brewers to promote craft-brewing industry as a whole. All of the proceeds of the Newport Craft Beer Festival benefit the Rhode Island Brewers Guild, a nonprofit organization that supports Ocean State craft breweries.
“We appreciate the hard work and time the brewers put into the festival each year — some of which have been at every single Newport Craft Beer Fest, and others joining for the first time, excited to get on board,” festival director Taylor Votolato said in a prepared statement. “We know the resources it takes, especially for some of the smaller guys, to attend some of these events and to say we couldn’t do it without them, is cliche, but goes without saying.
“We’re also honored by how many fans return each year, and the new fans eager to get through the doors. Without them, the industry couldn’t grow, and grown it has — in Rhode Island and beyond.”
Guests will have the opportunity to sample beers from all the breweries present, keep the commemorative tasting glass and declare their favorite brewery by voting for the 7th Annual Fan Favorite Brewery Award. Local Newport restaurants will offer their best plates, merchandise vendors will be showcasing their talents and local bands will top it all off.
Friday VIB tickets are already sold out, but Saturday tickets are $50 and available now. This rain or shine event is strictly for those 21 years of age or older, and tickets are non-refundable. For tickets and up to date information, visit NewportCraftBeer.com.
