TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — Otsiningo Park is getting into the holiday spirit as the Festival of Lights kicks off.
The event hasn’t been done in years, but the pandemic gave organizers the idea to bring it back, making it one of the few local events in 2020. With the help of about 50 volunteers and a whole month to set up, organizers say you’ll see 80 light displays, and hundreds of trees wrapped in lights.
Organizers say they hope their event will help people get out of the house to enjoy some holiday magic.
“I’ve just gotten so many calls from people that have been locked up for a long time, and rightfully so, we’ve got to be careful with COVID,” said Dave Pessagno, an organizer of the event. “That’s why this event fits everything perfectly.”
Due to the pandemic, you’ll have to enjoy the light show from your car, but you can tune into 90.9 FM to hear some holiday tunes. In the future, organizers hope the event can be turned into a walk-through experience.
The festival runs from November 20 to January 10, with lights turning on every evening at 5 p.m., even on holidays. The cost is $15 per car, with free admission for veterans. For more information about the event, as well as special events being held throughout the season, head to their website.
