Palisade Peach Festival Fire Evacuation

PALISADE, Colo.

The Palisade Peach Festival was evacuated after the fire, (3-5 acres in size) ignited on a hill at the South side of Riverbend Park at about 9:10 p.m on Friday, August 16. Hundreds of people were evacuated, and many of the vendors had to leave their booths, and belongings behind. Fireworks are the suspected cause of the fire. East Orchard Mesa Fire Department released a statement Saturday, August 17 at about 6 p.m. stating the fire is now 100 percent contained. No injuries have been reported from the evacuation, but the East Orchard Mesa Fire Department states one firefighter was transported to the hospital for a heat-related illness.
