The 43rd annual festival will be Dec. 7.
DALTON The Dalton Holidays Festival Committee has announced plans for the 2019 festival.
Grand marshals for this year’s parade is the Dalton Kidron Big 4 4-H Club. The group was selected as a thank you for the 75 years they have worked with youth in the community.
The festival parade is 2 p.m. Dec. 7.
The club was founded in 1944 by Carl and Audrey Buchwalter and has grown from four members to 79. The club empowers youngsters to follow the 4-H motto – “To make the best better.”
The club participates in community service projects as well as individual 4-H projects. So far, the club performed an estimated 150 hours of community service. For the last 16 years, the club has been led by Laurel and Larry Strasbuagh.
Citizen of the Year
Brad Welch has been named the Citizen of the Year. He was selected for his commitment to the community and students in Dalton. The committee said Welch exemplifies the character and passion they seek in a candidate for Citizen of the Year.
A Dalton resident for the past 55 years, Welch spent 27 years teaching. His favorite memory of Dalton is when he was a child growing up on Freet Street.
“I got to watch the huge operation of lifting and rolling the historic hotel down Main Street and put in it’s current location,” he said.
Welch has a love for his community and the members who are helpful and friendly.
The festival committee has booth spaces available for the show. Booths can be reserved with full payment.
New applications will be screened for approval with a jurying committee and will receive a letter upon acceptance. All vendors receive final information for booth assignments following completion of submissions.
