RETRO Rendezvous the popular South Lakes retro festival returns next summer following cancellation of the 2020 event due to Covid-19.
The event, based in Ulverston, is a street-based festival where most of attractions are free, and is planned as a brilliant weekend of post-Covid joy.
A spokesman said: “We were devastated to have to cancel Retro Rendezvous, which is now an established favourite in the Ulverston summer festival calendar, as part of a total cancellation this year. “It’s really bad news for the community and local hospitality industry, so it’s great to be able to announce something which spreads a little positivity.
“By moving to June, we are in a quieter part of the season, with less pressure on resources and it gives an early season boost to local business.”
The event, normally held in the middle of July, has moved to June 11-13 as a result of the growth in numbers.
“If it’s retro or vintage, we’ll take it, so it’s cars, markets, bikes, clothes, food, music, dance and anything else that we can encourage,” a spokesman said. “It kicks off on Friday evening and runs right through to the return of the vintage cyclists on Sunday afternoon.
“We’re already working with a number of pubs who are putting on themed music and events, Ford Park are running the festival camping, any business who wants to get involved, just needs to let us know, you do it, we’ll publicise it.”
