Opening night of the 2019 Danbury Irish Festival was held on September 20 at the Danbury Portuguese Cultural Center.

Guests enjoyed Irish music, cultural activities, Irish food beer and more.

This year’s festival honors the memory of Gerry Curran, founder of the festival and past president of the Danbury Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, who died in July. Curran created the Irish Festival in 1995 with the help of Sharon Higgins, then Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians President Sharon Higgins, to raise funds for the Danbury Hibernians to build their own hall.
