Festival Pass for Thursday, Oct. 17
When the 2020 Stagecoach Country Music Festival lineup dropped earlier this week, I wasn’t shocked to see Carrie Underwood and Eric Church and Thomas Rhett atop the bill.
But there was a name in bold type that stopped me for a minute: Bryan Adams. THE Bryan Adams?!?! Yep, it’s him. Adams’ 1984 album “Reckless” is still perfection and spawned four of the greatest power pop songs of the ’80s — “Summer of 69,” “Somebody,” “Run to You” and “Heaven.”
“I am always looking for somebody who is just country enough with a lot of hits and high energy,” Stacy Vee, Stagecoach’s talent booker, told reporter Kelli Skye Fadroski. “This year we had Bret Michaels and I was just keeping my eyes peeled for someone like that to bring in and Bryan Adams seemed to be a fun choice that I bet no one was thinking would ever be on the bill and that’s why I love it.”
I certainly wasn’t and now he is right up there with Garth and Shania for my most anticipated Stagecoach sets ever.
But Stagecoach isn’t the only news this week. All My Friends returns to LA this weekend and the Subaru Country Freedom Festival makes its debut in San Pedro.
Plus, catch up with the art, the music and more from Desert Daze last weekend. Read on!
The champion of disco
DJ Harvey is one of the legends coming to the second edition of All My Friends in Los Angeles this weekend and the icon talked to writer Liz Ohanesian from Ibiza about disco and more.
Country on the waterfront
The Subaru Country Freedom Fest makes its debut this weekend with Chris Janson, Cody Johnson and more. But why is all this good ol’ country goodness coming to San Pedro? Location, location, location — and selfies, reporter Richard Guzman explains.
Stagecoach rides high again
The lineup for the 2020 Stagecoach Country Music Festival dropped this week and Carrie Underwood, Eric Church and Thomas Rhett top the bill. But the lineup is deep, with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus both getting full sets, Orville Peck, Ryan Bingham, Dan+Shay and many more. Oh and Diplo and Guy Fieri are coming back.
Passes go on sale Friday. Find out how to get tickets and see the full lineup.
Dazed, but not confused
Desert Daze wrapped its eighth year over the weekend and not only did we get to see Devo, but also a Devo energy dome as an art piece. The music and vibes were great, too. Check out some of the photos.
