SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – Sun Prairie police will be ramping up security at the annual Sweet Corn Festival in response to a fight Friday night.

Sun Prairie officials said there was a fight between a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl at Angell Park at 9:20 p.m.

Police said they broke up the fight but the 15-year-old tried to punch an officer. She was later arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, while the 13-year-old was only charged with disorderly conduct.

Officials said both teens have been banned from the park.

Authorities said a large crowd of teens had surrounded and cheered on the two girls during the fight. Five officers were already at the park, with seven more being called in for backup. A Dane County deputy was also called in to help with the crowd.

Police said the teenagers were shouting and swearing at officers but were eventually removed from the scene.

Officials said there is a zero tolerance policy for this sort of behavior. As such, law enforcement will be adding more security for the rest of the festival. Four additional officers will be at the park, meaning there will be nine total in attendance.
