ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) — The Water Lantern Festival will no longer run through Rockford this month.
The festival consists of dozens of U.S. cities that display floating lanterns on water for one night.
Rockford’s celebration had been scheduled for Saturday, July 27, but it was canceled due to low participation and lack of growth, according to Water Lantern Festival Team.
Those who purchased tickets will not be refunded for their tickets. However, they can use the ticket to attend one of the upcoming celebrations in Chicago or Madison, Wisconsin.
Chicago’s celebration will be held at Humboldt Park on July 20. Madison’s celebration will be held at Warer Park on August 24.
The Water Lantern Festival Team says both venues will provide a better experience for guests. For more information on the Water Lantern Festival, click here.
