And the Island Bay Festival played out beneath golden weather for the Island Bay siblings and about 9998 others on Sunday.
Face-painting was just one of the offerings at the annual festival that has now run for about 40 years.
Also there were dodgems, inflatable slides, water balls, a shooting gallery, live music, an array of foods, and the traditional blessing of the boats.
Island Bay Enhancement Trust treasurer Mike Jones said previous years attracted crowds of about 10,000 and there was no reason to suspect this year – which technically ran over Saturday and Sunday – would be any different.
